How do I calculate the number of days between two dates?

Subtract the earlier date from the later date to get the raw count of calendar days. This calculator does that automatically — enter a start and end date and the result appears instantly in days, weeks, months, and years. You can also choose whether to count the start day, the end day, both, or neither.

How many weeks are between two dates?

Divide the total number of days by seven to get complete weeks. Any leftover days are shown as a remainder. For example, 90 days equals 12 complete weeks and 6 remaining days. The calculator shows both figures in the Weeks card.

How many months are between two dates?

Calendar months are counted by stepping forward one month at a time from the start date, not by dividing days by 30. This accounts for the fact that months have different lengths. A difference of, say, 2 months and 30 days is accurate because it reflects real calendar boundaries rather than an average.

Does this calculator count weekends?

The total days result counts all calendar days including weekends. The Business days card separately shows only Monday through Friday days in the same range, excluding Saturdays and Sundays. It does not exclude public holidays.

What is the difference between including and excluding the start date?

Accepted Answer

The count method changes the result by one day. For example, from January 1 to January 3: if you exclude the start date you count January 2 and 3, giving 2 days. If you include the start date you also count January 1, giving 3 days. Most calendar apps use the include-start-only convention, which is the default here.

How do I calculate my age in days?

Enter your date of birth as the start date and today as the end date, then use the total days result. For example, a person born 30 years ago is approximately 10,958 days old. For a more detailed age breakdown including years, months, and hours, use the Age Calculator.

How many business days are in a date range?

Business days are counted by stepping through each day in the range and counting only Mondays through Fridays. The calculator does this exactly rather than applying an approximation. Note that the result does not subtract public holidays, which vary by country and employer.

Yes. You can enter any start and end date regardless of whether they are in the past, present, or future. If you accidentally enter the end date before the start date, the calculator reorders them automatically and shows a note explaining the swap.

Does this account for leap years?

Yes. The calculator works with real calendar dates, so every February 29 that falls within your date range is counted as a normal calendar day. This means results are always accurate rather than relying on an average year length of 365.25 days.
