How to convert hourly to salary

The standard formula is straightforward: hourly rate × hours per week × weeks per year = annual salary. For full-time work, that is most commonly 40 hours across 52 weeks, which gives 2,080 working hours in a year. A $25 hourly rate at that schedule works out to $52,000 a year.

For part-time or seasonal work, lower the hours per week or the weeks per year to match your real schedule. If you work 25 hours a week for 48 weeks, the same $25 rate produces $30,000 a year rather than $52,000. Unpaid time off is the most common reason to drop below 52 weeks.

All figures here are gross — what you earn before any deductions. Take-home pay is lower after federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare, and any state or local tax. Most US workers see roughly 20–30% of gross pay withheld before it reaches their account.
