Child Height and Weight Percentile Calculator — CDC
Calculate your child's height and weight percentiles using CDC growth charts for ages 2–18. Enter age, sex, and measurements for instant, readable results.
Understanding your child's percentile
A percentile is a relative ranking, not a grade. The 60th percentile for height means your child is taller than 60% of children the same age and sex — it does not mean a score of 60 out of 100.
For height and weight, the 5th–95th percentile is considered the typical range. For BMI, the CDC defines a healthy range as the 5th–85th percentile, with 85th–95th classed as overweight and above 95th as obese for age and sex.
A single reading is less useful than the trend over time. Pediatricians look at how a child grows along their own curve from visit to visit rather than reacting to any one measurement.
CDC vs WHO growth charts
The WHO Child Growth Standards describe how healthy, breastfed children grow worldwide and are recommended for ages 0–24 months. The CDC charts reflect how US children have historically grown and are used for ages 2–18. This calculator uses CDC charts. For children under two, use the Baby Growth Percentile Calculator.
